St. Josephs Teachers College mourn death of Samuel Martin

Teachers and students at the St. Joseph’s Teachers Ccollege turned out in their numbers today ( Apl 29) to honour the life of slain lecturer Samuel Martin.

The body of the 41-year-old teacher of Waterloo Close, in Kingston, was found in Juno Pen, Clarendon last Thursday.

Mr. Martin had been missing for several days.

He was an English lecturer in the Language Arts department at St. Joseph’s Teachers’ College and began teaching at the institution this year.

Principal of St. Joseph’s Teachers College, sister Dr. Gwendolyn Melhado says while Mr. Martin was only at the school for a short time, he fitted into the culture of St. Joseph’s well and was an active participant in the college’s activities.

She notes that the Education Ministry’s grief counselling unit was also present at the day’s activities and provided counselling for students and staff members.
