by April 30th, 2019

Entertainer George Nooks plans to sue the state for malicious prosecution and false arrest.

The “God is Standing By” singer, was nabbed by police at Liguanea Plaza in St. Andrew last Friday and taken into custody at the Narcotics headquarters on Spanish Town Road.

Reports are that George Nooks was arrested after police reportedly found a capsule which allegedly contained a substance believed to be cocaine.

Further reports are that the singer allegedly threw away the capsule when police officers approached him. The singer was also accused of ingesting whatever was inside of the capsule. He was subsequently taken to the Kingston Public Hospital as a precaution.

Attorney at law, Tom Tavares-Finson who is representing the singer, tells Music News that George Nooks was released on Sunday without charge. He also confirms that Nooks left the island on Monday for a show in Barbados.

Mr. Tavares-Finson further explains that George Nooks plans to sue the state for malicious prosecution and false arrest.

This is not the first time George Nooks has had a running with law enforcement officials. In 2017, Nooks was arrested after cops say they searched a bag he was carrying and found cocaine. He was arrested and charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act, and later released on an $80,000 bond.

That matter is still before the court.
