Janieve Russell and Olympic champion Dalilah Muhammad set to clash in the 400metres hurdles in Doha

Commonwealth games gold medallist Janieve Russell and Olympic champion Dalilah Muhammad from the United States will renew their rivalry in the 400metres hurdles.

This in the first meeting of the 2019 IAAF Diamond League, in Doha on Friday.

Russell led their overall head-to-head 6-2 but the American did prevail in the Diamond League final in Zurich in 53.88 to win the Diamond League title.

Russell and Mohammed faced each other eight times last year and they were particularly closely matched in shanghai where Muhammad prevailed in 53.77 to Russell’s 53.78 and in Eugene where Russell came out on top in 54.06 to Muhammad’s 54.09.

Russel who was a part of Jamaica’s 4×400 meters team at the Penn relays on the weekend says she is very much on track so far this season.

Also listed on the provisional entry lists for the event including 2015 world championships 100metres hurdles gold medallist Danielle Williams and national 800m record holder Natoya Goule.
