Hanna calls for National Ganja Lab & Jamaican ganja branding

by May 1st, 2019

Opposition spokesperson on Foreign Trade Lisa Hanna has made several recommendations to government that she said will help boost Jamaica’s presence in the export market, thereby grow the country’s economy.

Among the recommendation is a call for the government to stand by Jamaica’s brand of ganja, as the country is known internationally for having the best weed.

Hanna lamented that the future of ganja is in pharmaceuticals and branding, but many local small ganja farmers are being left out of the loop due to regulatory requirements.

She said the government has an obligation to make small ganja farmers part of the economic opportunity.

Hanna called for the establishment of a national ganja lab that would facilitate the processing of the weed from small farmers, at a fee.

She said the national lab should also be responsible for ganja branding.
