JPS hopes staff will obey IDT back to work order

by May 7th, 2019

The Jamaica Public Service says it’s optimistic that workers will adhere to the back to work order from the Industrial Disputes Tribunal issued today (May 7).

Some JPS workers called in sick this morning, following a breakdown in wage negotiations between the company and the Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees (UCASE).

Earlier today, The IDT ordered that the workers resume duties at 2:00 p.m.

However, it is unclear how many had turned up for duties.

Director of Corporate Communications & Customer Experience at JPS Winsome Callum gave an update moments ago.

Meantime, the light and power company this afternoon said all areas impacted by the outage have been restored.

Earlier, the JPS said sections of Kingston and St. Andrew, as well as St. Thomas, were experiencing outages.
