Minister with responsibility for sports, Natalie Neita-Headley says there is no indication at this time, that the current corruption scandal involving FIFA officials will affect Jamaica.

Some 14 officials have been charged so far in the corruption case.

Concerns have been raised whether Jamaica is set to be negatively impacted by these latest developments.

In an interview with Irie F.M. News, Mrs Neita-Headley says there are no problems for the country at this time.

In the meantime, efforts to reach president of the Jamaica Football Federation and FIFA executive member, Horace Burrel for a comment were unsuccessful.

Irie FM News understands that Captain Burrel is currently in Switzerland where FIFA’s 79-year-old president, Sepp Blatter is standing for re-election to a fifth term.

According to Reuters news agency, the election is to get underway at the FIFA congress in Zurich on Friday, and FIFA said the vote would go ahead as planned, despite the allegations of widespread corruption.
