Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the celebration of Labour Day is symbolic of Jamaica’s independence.

He notes that through continuous labouring over the years, the country has made significant political achievements and self-governance.

Mr. Holness points out that Labour Day should not be seen as an opportunity to stay home from work, but as an avenue to contribute to nation building.

He was speaking during a national Labour Day project at the Papine High School, in St. Andrew.
