by May 24th, 2019

Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton, said significant advances have been made with the National Health Information System and that the programme will be rolled-out over the next 5 years.

The new health information system will facilitate data on patients being collected and shared on one platform, that connects hospitals and health centres across the island.

The programme will assist medical practitioners, with an easier way of storing and sharing digital files on persons who are in dire need of medical assistance.

Dr. Tufton gave an update on the initiative, while speaking at the 72nd World Health Assembly in Switzerland.

While outlining measures being taken by the government to accelerate the country towards the attainment of universal health coverage by 2030, Dr. Tufton noted, that the National Health Insurance Plan, will help increase overall resources for the health sector.
