Alia Atkinson splashes up solid performance at this summer’s World Championships Korea

Olympian Alia Atkinson continues to round into form for this summer’s World Championships in Gwangju Korea with a season best performance in the 100 metre breaststroke.

Competing at the 2019 Clovis pro swim series meet in Clovis California yesterday.

Atkinson, the 2018 CAC gold medalist and record holder earned bronze in the event with a time of 1 minute 08.00 seconds.

Her first 50 metres of 31.82 seconds showed that she is getting sharper as she heads to the global championships. Alia took more than half a second off her previous season best of 1 minute 08.55 seconds.

The silver went to 2018 CAC silver medalist Mexican Melissa Rodriquez in a new national record time of 1 minute 07.32 seconds and the gold went to Canadian Olympian Sydney Pickrem in a new personal best of 1 minute 07.20 seconds.
