UCASE optimistic about Petrojam’s future based on review committee recommendations

by June 28th, 2019

The Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees (UCASE) has indicated that the findings and recommendations of the Petrojam review committee, are for the most part positive and achievable.

The Chris Zcca led review committee, recently completed its assessment of the viability of Petrojam, and its findings were revealed during a press conference, yesterday.

Ucase general secretary, john levy, said the union has a copy of the lengthy review, and it is being perused.

He said, if the recommended option to lease Petrojam is successful, there is hope for the refinery, and its staff.

Ucase represents workers at the state-owned oil refinery.

Mr. Levy said the union has already discussed the possibility of putting a team together to lease Petrojam.

He said the union is choosing not to dwell too much on the worst case scenario recommendation, wherein if no one leases the entity, the refinery would be closed, and operations  scaled down to just terminal service.
