Four held for large cocaine find

About 10. 2 kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of $13.3 m was seized at a container terminal in Kingston, yesterday.

The drug was seized by the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Jamaica Customs Contraband Enforcement Team.

Reports are that about 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, a vessel with cargo from Columbia arrived in the island at the container terminal.

While the containers were being offloaded, eight packages of cocaine were found in the possession of one of the stevedores.

The police and CET were contacted and a search of the vessel revealed an additional 10 packages of cocaine concealed under the spare anchor on the bow.

Four stevedores were taken into custody.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
