Govt committed to Vale Royal talks

by July 30th, 2019

Attorney General Marlene Malahoo Forte, has disputed claims, that the government’s failure to meet with stakeholders including the People’s National Party (PNP) has resulted in the absence of a national crime plan.

Mrs. Malahoo Forte spoke on the matter at a crime summit hosted by the opposition at the Conference Centre in downtown Kingston this morning (Jul 30).

While noting that she agrees that the issue of crime must be dealt with, with urgency, Mrs. Malahoo Forte says she disagrees that a lack of talks is responsible for the lack of a national remedy to deal with crime.

She also pointed to both political sides having different schedules which posed a problem for meetings.

She assured that Prime Minister Andrew Holness remains committed to the Vale Royal talks.

She represented the government at the summit today.
