India whips West Indies to seal 2-nil ODI series triumph

Captain Virat Kholi scored his 43rd ODI ton to lead India to a six wicket win over the West Indies in the rain affected third one day international at the Queens Park Oval in Trinidad yesterday.

India took the series 2-nil in the process.

Following two rain delays the match was reduced to 35 overs and the ‘Windies made 240 for 7  with veteran Chris Gayle in what could be his farewell ODI ………………top scoring after blazing a quick-fire 72 from 41 balls while putting on 115 for the first wicket with Evin Lewis who was dismissed for 43.

Nicholas Pooran made 30 and Shimron Hetmyer posted 25.

This against Khaleel Ahmed 3 for 68.

India then raced to 256 for 4 in 32 overs and three balls, with Virat Kholi who was named man of the match and player of the series  slamming 114 not out off 99 balls, and a half centry 65 from Shreyas Iyer, while Shakir Dhawan supported with 36.

Fabian Allen 2 for 40 got most wickets for the Caribbean side.

Both teams will now turn their attention to the first test starting on august 22 in Antigua.
