Jason Derulo samples Chaka Demus and Pliers “Murder She Wrote”

by August 30th, 2019

R&B and hip hop singer Jason Derulo, is the latest foreign entertainer to get in on the dancehall summer wave.

In his latest single ‘Too Hot’ Jason Derulo leaned in on dancehall veterans Chaka Demus and Pliers 1992 hit single ‘Murder She Wrote.’ The track based entirely on the beat of the infectious dancehall classic Bam Bam riddim, sees Jason Derulo sing a chorus mirroring the chorus of that of ‘Murder She Wrote.’

Always inspired by island flavor, in March this year, Jason Derulo included a few Jamaican dancers in the music video for his single ‘Let’s Shut up and Dance.’

Derulo’s dancehall infused ‘Too Hot’ follows the release of rapper Nicki Minaj’s summer hit ‘Megatron’ which sampled Danny Brownie’s Filthy riddim back in June.
