by September 2nd, 2019

Reggae Girlz striker Khadijah Shaw is blasting the Jamaica Football Federation on social media over unpaid wages and has indicated that the Reggae Girlz will not be participating in future tournaments until they are paid.

Shaw on her Instagram account Bun_Bun10 noted “We have made a lot of sacrifices to wear the colors of Jamaica. We have respected and worn the colors with pride. We are in a position where we we are literally fighting just to get paid by legal agreements”.

According to the former Tennessee striker this is “just about money, it’s about change, change in the way women football is viewed especially in Jamaica. We deserve more and they can do better”.

She ends her post by saying “for this reason, I along with my teammates won’t be participating in any future tournaments until being paid”.

The Reggae Girlz, the first Caribbean team to qualify for a FIFA  Women’s World Cup, participated in the showpiece event in France earlier  this year where they were drawn in an ultra-competitive Group C where they lost to Brazil, Italy and Australia in the group stage.

Shaw meanwhile has since signed a contract to join French club Girondins Bordeaux.
