Edu Min: smooth start to new school year

by September 2nd, 2019

Despite a protest by transport operators who withdrew their services this morning, the first day of the new academic school year went off without a hitch.

That’s according to acting Permanent Secretary in the Education Ministry, Dr. Grace McLean.

Speaking at the office of the Prime Minister this afternoon, Dr. McLean said several students were impacted by the strike, by some taxi and bus operators.

She noted however, that schools would not penalize students as a result of this.

Dr. McLean said the ministry will continue its preparation processes this week.

She said the ministry will be on the alert throughout the week as principals bring their needs to the ministry’s attention.

And, minister with responsibility for the Education Ministry, Karl Samuda says he is satisfied with the reports he has received from the regional offices and believes full commendation should be given to the team from the ministry and school administrators across the island.
