Windies Women crash to 178 run loss to Australia Women

West Indies women cricketers find themselves 1-0 down in the three match One Day International series against Australia after crashing to a 178 runs defeat at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

Set 309 for victory, the Windies women were dismissed for 130 from 37.3 overs.

Captain Stafanie Taylor was the top-scorer, slamming 70 from 115 balls, including 5 fours and a six.

Chinelle Henry who made 17 was the only other West Indian into double figures while three batters – Nathasha McLean, Stacy-Ann King and Kyshona Knight – all made ducks.

Ellyse Perry (3-17) and Georgia Wareham (2-44) were the pick of the Australia women bowlers.

Earlier the Aussies piled up a mammoth 308 for 4 with Alysa Healy (122) and Meg Lanning (121) both making centuries after sharing in a second wicket partnership worth 225 runs.

Shamilia Connell (2-53) was the most successful of the Windies Women bowlers.

The second and penultimate game is at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium -also in Antigua – on Sunday.
