Dr Phillips retains position of PNP President, calls for unity

Re-elected leader of the People’s National Party, Dr. Peter Phillips has urged members to be united following his victory at the internal polls yesterday.

 

Dr. Phillips was speaking at the National Arena, after he defeated his presidential challenger, Peter Bunting.

 

Dr. Phillips emerged victorious with 1,427 votes, 76 more than his challenger Peter Bunting who got 1, 351votes.

 

While expressing appreciation for the victory, Dr. Phillips said the party should work together in order to move forward.

 

He said the victory should not only be a moment of celebration, but more importantly, a time where the party’s philosophy is remembered.

 

 

Dr. Phillips said it is time to end the rule of the Jamaica Labour Party.

 

 

He added that, as a unified party, the PNP is ready to take the reins in governing the country.
