by September 19th, 2019

Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz are once again back inside the top 50 on the FIFA Coca Cola World Rankings after moving up 5 places to number 47.

It comes after they notched comfortable 6-0 and 4-0 wins respectively against Antigua and Barbuda and Guyana in League B of the Concacaf Nations League.

The Jamaicans, who top Group B with maximum 6 points, remain the best placed Caribbean team on the rankings and fourth in Concacaf overall behind Mexico who stayed put at 12, the United States who moved up a place to 21 and Costa Rica who went up a spot to 43.

Honduras (67), El Salvador (72), Canada (75), Curacao (76), Panama (77), Haiti (86) and Trinidad and Tobago (100) round out Concacaf’s representation on the top 100.

Belgium, in the meantime, continues to occupy top spot ahead of World champions France with Copa America winners Brazil, England and Portugal completing the top 5.

The rest of the top 10 includes Uruguay, Spain, Croatia, Colombia and Argentina.

The Cayman Islands (193rd, up 11), and Grenada (160th, up 13) are the joint-biggest climbers by points, reaping the rewards after their successful showing in the Concacaf Nations League.

Other than Jamaica notable upwardly mobile nations include Republic of Ireland (28th, up 4), Russia (42nd, up 4), Guatemala (133th, up 11), Suriname (142th, up 9), Montserrat (187th, up 9) and Djibouti (186, up 9), who recently overcame Eswatini (150, down 11) over two legs to advance to the second round of African World Cup qualifying for just the second time.

Meanwhile, Kosovo (119, plus 1) have been rewarded for their valiant showing in UEFA EURO 2020 qualifying by reaching their best-ever position in the FIFA Ranking.
