by September 20th, 2019

Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, has sought to assure the business and investment sector that the country’s economic policies will remain in place, even if there is a change in political leadership in the future.

He was speaking against the background of the end of Jamaica’s agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and plans to maintain fiscal discipline going forward.

While addressing an i-m-f reception dinner on Wednesday, Holness noted that in the past, both political parties in the capacity of government, have had sobering encounters with the i-m-f, and have learnt that Jamaica is not owed any favours.

He stressed, that Jamaica must secure its economic independence, adding that the end of the IMF agreement, is the beginning of a new phase for the country.

He pointed out, that reaching the end of the IMF agreement, also involved both sides of parliament reaching a political consensus.

The Prime Minister told the business sector, that the economic policies will not change with the political cycle.
