JTA appeals for blood donations for teacher mauled by pitbulls

by September 21st, 2019

The Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) has appealed for its members to donate blood for the primary school teacher, who was mauled by 4 pitbull dogs in St. Andrew, on Thursday.

Its reported that on September 19, the teacher was on her regular evening exercise in Coopers Hill, when she was attacked by a pack of dogs.

A resident, who reportedly heard cries for help, went to check on what was happening and then alerted the police.

Officers who responded reportedly had to fire some shots in the air, to scare off the dogs.

In condemning the act, JTA President Owen Speid lamented that people should be free to walk, and exercise, along public roadways.

The St. Richards Primary school teacher remains hospitalised in intensive care, having already undergone some emergency surgeries and is slated to do more.

Hence, the need for blood donations.

The JTA has extended support to the teacher and her relatives.
