Man who allegedly shot cop following car crash listed as POI

The St. James police have listed a man, who allegedly opened gunfire at a police officer this morning, as a person of interest.

 

He is 24 year old Travis Malcolm, otherwise called Tipa, of Porto Bello.

 

Malcolm is being asked to turn himself in to the Montego Bay police by midday tomorrow Monday September 23.

 

Reports to Irie FM News are that a constable, who is attached to Area One police, was shot multiple times and has undergone surgery.

 

The shooting of the cop occurred after a minor motor vehicle accident early this morning.

 

Reports are that about 3:00 a.m., the constable was driving towards his home, in his private motor car.

 

On reaching a section of the Porto Bello main road, his vehicle was involved in a minor accident with another vehicle.

 

It’s reported that the officer alighted from his vehicle to address the situation and was fired upon, by an armed man.

 

The cop managed to return the fire, and was later assisted to hospital.

 

Police are asking anyone who may be able to help them locate Travis Malcolm to contact investigators at (876) 979-8452 to 3, crime stop at 311, police 119 emergency number, or the nearest police station.
