Pitbull dogs that allegedly attacked teacher taken from owner

by September 22nd, 2019

The pitbull dogs that allegedly attacked a teacher in Coopers Hill St. Andrew last Thursday have been taken from their owner.

The Jamaica constabulary force says the dogs were removed yesterday with the assistance of the Jamaican Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA).

The woman who received multiple injuries has been hospitalized in serious condition.

Head of the Police Communications Unit DSP Dahlia Garrick said police are checking if the owner was negligent with regards to the dogs.

She said the owner is cooperating with investigators.

DSP Garrick said last week’s incident is not the first reported of dogs attacking people since the start of this year.

She noted that a public education campaign may be needed to remind persons of their responsibilities regarding certain dogs.
