Louie Rankin dies in car crash

Members of the entertainment industry locally and internationally are sending messages of condolence following the sudden death of Louie Rankin.

The Jamaican born Grammy-award winning artist famous for his role as Ox in the movie “Belly” died in a car crash in Canada.

Information reaching Music News is sketchy, but according to reports, Louie Rankin died Monday in a fatal wreck in Ontario, Canada. The crash reportedly involved a transport truck and another vehicle.

Louie Rankin starred alongside Nas and DMX in the 1998 crime drama “Belly” where he played a Jamaican Kingpin called Ox. 

His other acting credits include 2002’s “Shottas” with Ky-Mani Marley and Spragga Benz, and 2014’s “We Run These Streets” and most recent, “The Intent II” a the Netflix original movie that also featured PopCaan.

Louie Rankin was also a Jamaican dancehall deejay. In 1992, he released the song “Typewriter,” which won a Grammy.
