Bob Marley and The Wailers honoured in London

by October 1st, 2019

38 years after his death, a heritage plaque paying tribute to Bob Marley and the Wailers has been officially unveiled at what was once Marley’s London home.

The English Heritage blue plaque unveiled today Tuesday, October 1, marks the spot where Bob Marley lived with his Wailers band at 42 Oakley Street, Chelsea, London. It was at this location, that the trio of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer, completed the recording of their legendary album ‘Exodus,’ which featured tracks such as ‘One Love,’ and ‘Jamming.’

A blue plaque commemorates the link between a location, and an individual who is held in high regard, and noted as exemplary in their field.

Out of the more than 900 blue plaques across London, only a small 4% of plaques has been dedicated to blacks.
