by October 7th, 2019

The opposition wants the government to dismiss the board of the Caribbean Maritime University (CMU) immediately.

Opposition Leader Dr. Peter Phillips made the call at a press conference today.

He also called for other actions relating to the CMU which has been under scrutiny particularly at the public administration and appropriations committee of parliament.

Revelations coming out of the opposition chaired committee led to an investigation, with the President Professor Fritz Pinnock opting to go on leave of absence in light of the investigation of the former minister of education, the ministry and the university.

He said the voluntary leave would allow the various investigators, time to conclude their findings and recommendations.

The president recently returned to his job and the opposition leader said Professor Pinnock should to return to leave, until the investigations are complete.

The opposition leader is further calling for an update on all investigations into government agencies within thirty days.

Dr. Phillips says failure of the government to act will result in other action, which could include protests.
