by October 9th, 2019

Regrettable and unfortunate is how information minister Karl Samuda has described the latest developments in relation to a probe by investigative bodies into allegations of corruption at the education ministry and the Caribbean Maritime University.

Mr. Samuda also insisted the government did not influence today’s operations by investigative agencies.

He says the government is committed to upholding the rule of law.

Following police raids this morning at the homes for former education minister Ruel Reid and head of the Caribbean Maritime University and others , the issue was raised at this morning’s post Cabinet news briefing.

Mr Samuda, said the government is unswervingly committed to the security forces’ execution of their duties to maintain the rule of law.

He maintained that the government remained detached from the investigation.

Mr. Samuda expressed regret at the chain of events that led to this morning’s operations and subsequent detention of several persons.
