PNP launches probe into incident at Bustamante Hospital involving Cllr Kari Douglas

by November 12th, 2019

The People’s National Party (PNP) says it has launched a probe into a standoff between doctors at the Bustamante Hospital and PNP Councillor Kari Douglas.

In a release this morning, the party says reports of the two-hour shutdown of the children’s’ hospital on account of the stand-off between the PNP Councillor and a member of the medical team, are of great concern.

The party states that while it understands the distress Ms. Douglas faced with the illness of her child, it cannot condone any verbal abuse or attack on hospital staff.

PNP Chairman Fitz Jackson says while all parents have a duty to ensure the best available care for their children, no one has the right to abuse anyone.

He notes that medical personnel across the island are under undue stress and have to work for long hours in less than ideal conditions and must be treated with respect at all times.
