JTA: teacher attacked by pit bull dogs recovering well

by November 15th, 2019

The Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) says it has been getting a good response to appeals for help and support, for the teacher who was attacked by dogs in St. Andrew.

The grade 6 teacher of the St. Richards primary school was mauled by a pack of pit bull dogs, while she was out exercising, in the Coopers Hill community, on Thursday September 19.

JTA President Owen Speid says the teacher, who remains hospitalised, is recovering well.

He says persons have been donating blood, as per the association’s request.

He adds that the TIP Friendly Society has also pledged a monetary donation.

Mr. Speid notes that representatives of the JTA will be re-visiting the school, to check on how staff and students are coping, in light of the injured teachers absence.
