Culture Minister Olivia Grange has called on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to advance a global priority plan towards Small Island Developing States (SIDs) imperatives.

The minister was addressing the 40th session of the UNESCO general conference in Paris, France yesterday.

Ms. Grange also noted Jamaica’s appreciation of UNESCO’s inscription of reggae music on the list of intangible cultural heritage, as well as the declaration of Kingston as a creative city of music.

The minister said the county is making strides in preserving its heritage by establishing a national culture and creative industries council.
