Manchester courthouse staff temporarily relocated to a warehouse

by November 18th, 2019

Court staff at the Manchester parish court were relocated to a temporary facility today, following a fire which damaged sections of the building earlier this month.

Court workers were initially placed under a tent on the property to continue with their duties, but this situation was not ideal, resulting in frustration for staff, attorneys and clients.

It’s reported that some cases have had to be rescheduled, inconveniencing many lawyers.

President of the Jamaican Bar Association Emile Leiba said operations for the Manchester parish court have since been relocated to a warehouse.

He said over the past few weeks, some cases were heard at the porus courthouse, but this building also has its challenges, including an inadequate air conditioning system.

He said he was told these issues are being worked on.
