The Diaspora & Brand Jamaica

Government has urged the Jamaican diaspora community to help build and market Brand Jamaica, through its culture and national symbols in their respective adopted foreign homes.

Prime Minister, Portia Simpson-Miller says the Jamaican diaspora, whose population consists of over three million, should become ambassadors and help the government in the promotion of the country’s unique brand.

She states that other countries, such as Ireland and India, have relied heavily on their nationals living overseas, to support their local economies, and foster growth.

 

She says the relations between Jamaica and the diaspora must be strengthened.

Additionally, the Prime Minister states that the diaspora’s contribution to the country must never be devalued, as it has invested greatly in the improvement of the education, and health sectors.

Mrs Simpson-Miller was delivering the keynote address at the opening of the Sixth Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort last evening.
