by November 10th, 2021

The majority of the board members of the Airports Authority of Jamaica, AAJ, and of the Norman Manley International Airport, NMIA, have offered their resignations.

This in the wake of controversy about a multi million dollar arrangement between the AAJ and First Rock Holdings.

Transport Minister Robert Montague gave an update on the issue in Parliament, yesterday (November 9).

Mr. Montague said some directors have stepped aside, to allow for investigations.

Meantime, Opposition Spokesman on Transport Mikeal Phillips has stated that the resignation of the board members of the Airports Authority of Jamaica, AAJ and the Norman Manley International Airport, NMIA, is not enough.

This in the wake of a controversial multi million dollar investment deal between the AAJ and First Rock Holdings.

Mr. Phillips was reacting to the announcement in Parliament yesterday (November 9) by Transport Minister Robert Montague, that in addition to the resignations, the boards of both the AAJ and NMIA will be dissolved.

Mr. Phillips wanted to know what will be done, to prevent a repeat of the breach.

In response, Mr. Montague said steps are being taken to ensure that all boards adhere to the Public Bodies Management and Accountability Act.
