Advocacy group calls for investigations into the prevalence of incidents with children found in prostitution

by July 9th, 2023

The Jamaica Youth Advocacy Network (J-YAN) is calling on childcare agencies such as the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) and the Office of the Children’s Advocate to investigate the pervasiveness of incidents with children found in prostitution, transactional sex and trafficking hotspots.

This after three men were charged on Friday for the alleged abduction of three girls on Port Henderson Road in St. Catherine last week.

In commending the police for their swift action which led to the discovery of the girls, J-YAN says no resource must be spared to protect the nation’s children from sexual exploitation and abuse.

It says all child protection agencies should make deliberate haste to prevent further situations of this kind.
