Agent Sasco’s Unplugged pulled by Negril police

by December 10th, 2019

Dancehall deejay Agent Sasco was left with no other option, but to think fast, and deliver an impromptu acapella performance for his fans in Negril, after the police pulled the plug on an event for which the entertainer was billed.

In recounting the event on his Instagram page, a disappointed but understanding Agent Sasco said: “ Last night in Negril at approximately 12:15 am, about a minute into my performance, I was told that we had to turn off immediately because of the State of Emergency currently declared in the western end of the island.” Agent Sasco went further to say “ The police explained that it wasn’t a lack of discretion on their part but they had direct orders.” Agent Sasco still did his best to not leave fans disappointed, as he shared a short video of himself quickly performing a couple of his songs in fine acapella style.

Agent Sasco and his Sound Agents band were scheduled for an unplugged session at Kenny’s Italian Cafe in Negril last Friday, a venue with a 1 am closing time. Since April, the western parishes of St. James, Hanover, and Negril have been subject to an extended State of Emergency.

However, from as early as 2015, promoters in Negril have been tackling the issue of early lock offs, and the non-issuing of event permits, and have even had meetings with various stakeholders, the police, and government representatives, in an effort to come up with solutions for how the entertainment scene in Negril can thrive in spite of the Noise Abatement Act.
