Aiken steers Firebirds to impressive win over Fowler-Reid’s West Coast Fever

Sunshine Girls Romelda Aiken and Jhaniele Fowler-Reid continue to hold their place among the crème de la crème in the Suncorp Super Netball League in Australia.

Aiken who tops the table in offensive rebounds with 20, is third in scoring with 201 goals.

Her last outing saw her scoring a team-high 45 goals from 51 attempts to lead the Queensland Firebirds to a statement 71-61 win against Fowler-Reid and the previously undefeated West Coast Fever.

Fowler-Reid while unable to guide the Fever to victory won the individual battle after ending with a game-high 48 goals from 49 shots to finish with a 98 percent conversion rate.

She leads the league in scoring with 268 goals – Caitlin Thwaites of Magpies Netball is second on 205.

West Coast Fever despite losing continue to sit atop the standings after 5 rounds on 29 points while Queensland Firebirds are up to third on 23.

Melbourne Vixens – the team of Jamaican defender Kadie-Ann Dehaney – are 4th on 22 after suffering a 58-51 loss to second place Giants Netball who are 2 points behind the leaders.
