by May 11th, 2020

International entertainer Akon is disassociating himself from a project being promoted by Contractor Music Group, which suggests he’s working on a reggae album dubbed Akon and Friends.

On Twitter Akon wrote, “For the record, I am not putting out a reggae compilation called Akon and Friends. I don’t know anything about this project if you see it being promoted it’s not happening.”

Akon is responding to series of promotions by Contractor Music Group which claims that the Senagalese-American entertainer is gearing up for the release of Akon and Friends, a reggae compilation which reportedly features a host of reggae and dancehall artists, including Sean Paul, Elephant Man, Sizzla, Beenie Man, Capleton, Wayne Wonder, Peetah Morgan, Tommy Lee Sparta, Don Yute, and Singing Melody among others.

When Music News contacted Sean Edwards, CEO of the Contractor Music Group, he tells Music News that Akon has been replaced by Shatta Wale.

Akon’s Twitter outburst has forced the renaming of the project. Now dubbed Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica the Reggae Collector Edition, the reggae and dancehall compilation, according to Contractor Music Group will feature the likes of Capleton, Sizzla, Beenie Man, Peter Morgan of Morgan Heritage, Tommy Lee Sparta, and Skillibeng among others.
