Alia Atkinson 5th highest earner in 2017 FINA Swimming World Cup Series

Jamaican double world record holder Alia Atkinson placed an overall 5th on the money list at the end of the FINA/Airweave Swimming World Cup Series which ended on Sunday in Singapore.

Atkinson doubled up on her 100m breaststroke victory from day 1 of the final meet by winning the 50m breaststroke on Sunday to walk away with an overall $50,400. This after pocketing a total of $25,000 in cluster bonuses.

Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom, the 2017 women’s champion, was the highest earner (male and female) overall in the World Cup Series after pocketing $371,700 dollars after a stunning $285,000 in bonuses, $150,000 of which she received as series bonus.

Atkinson, who missed out on the series bonus, claimed $10,000 in bonus from Cluster One, $10,000 also from Cluster Two and $5000 in bonus at the end of the third and final cluster.

2017 men’s champion Chad le Clos of South Africa took home $328,100.

Four other swimmers cracked six figures in winnings. Katinka Hosszu made $276,500, Vladimir Morozov $233,400, Kirill Prigoda $161,200 and Ranomi Kromowidjojo $154,000.
