Alia Atkinson named to technical committee of the Union Americana de Nacion for 2019 to 2023 period

Outstanding Jamaican swimmer alia Atkinson has been named to the technical committee of the Union Americana de Nacion (Uana) for 2019 to 2023 period.

Atkinson, a four-time Olympian, will serve on the technical swimming committee.

Six other athlete members were also named to serve on various technical committees.

They are Estafania Alvarez of Colombia and bill may of the USA, Rommell Pacheco, Ed Tsuzuki , Stephanie Horner and Genai Kerr.

A statement from the UANA executive committee stated that “these athletes will be part of the technical committees for the 2019 – 2023 period, leading to the pan American games in Santiago, Chile and they have been chosen because of their devotion, hard work, and capability to serve the aquatic sports in the region in general and specific to the sport in which they obviously already have made a great impact.

Established in 1948 in London, England during the 1948 Olympic Games, UANA exists for the purpose of unifying the aquatic activities in the Americas into a single regional and international organization. UNA is a not-for profit organization.

It is recognized as a “continental” body by FINA (Federation International de Natation) under that organizations constitution clause 14.1.
