Alia Atkinson splashes up gold medal at FINA/Swimming World Cup Netherlands

Jamaican Olympian Alia Atkinson was in scintillating form last night as she splashed up the gold medal in the women’s 50 metres breastroke at the FINA/Swimming World Cup in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Atkinson won the event in 29.18 seconds, touching the wall ahead of Yuliya Effimova of Russia who posted 29.50 seconds, with Molly Hannis of the United States third in 30.01 seconds.

On Saturday Atkinson finished second in the women’s 100 metres breastroke after she clocked 1minute 03.74 seconds, behind Yuila Effimova of Russia who won the event in 1 minute 03.41 seconds.

This was the third stop on the FINA World Cup schedule and the next stop will be later this week October 4-6 in Budapest Hungary.
