Jamaica’s double world record holder Alia Atkinson splashed up her second medal at the 14th FINA short-course swimming championship in Hangzhou, china this morning.
Atkinson who had earlier won the 50 metres breastroke gold medal, held on for the bronze in the women’s 100 metres individual medley after posting 58.11 seconds, just behind the Japanese Runai Imai who touched the wall in 57.85 seconds.
The race was won by the sensational 29 year old Hungarian Katinka Hosszu who won the event in 57.26 seconds.
On Wednesday Atkinson won the women’s 50 meter breaststroke title as he struck gold in 29.05 seconds ahead of Lithuania’s Rita Meilutyte and Italy’s Martina Carraro.
Meanwhile another Jamaican Sidrell Williams… failed to advance in the men’s 50 metre freestyle event, after being eliminated in the heats last night. Williams posted 23.81 seconds to finish second to last in heat 7.
Williams will also be in action tomorrow in the men’s 100 meters freestyle.
