Anchovy High’s administrative body holds meeting to address payment issues impacting ancillary workers following protest at institution this morning

by May 30th, 2022

The administrative body of the Anchovy High School in St James was locked in a meeting to discuss payment for ancillary workers, following a protest at the institution this morning (May 30).

Reports are that the workers locked the gates of the institution before school began, preventing students and teachers from gaining entrance to the compound.

Members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade had to be called to cut the padlock from the gate.

IRIE FM news understands that the action was a result of concerns raised by the workers over the payment of salaries.

Speaking to IRIE FM NEWS Chairman of the School’s Board, Nigel Golaub said the workers have returned to work.

He noted, that the meeting which included representatives from the Ministry and the ancillary workers convened shortly before 11.

Mr Golaub said the issue is internal and not a fault of the Government.
