Reggae Boyz goalkeeper and captain Andre Blake is the highest paid Jamaican in the MLS.
The latest figures released in the annual MLS Players Salary Guide shows Blake – who plays for Philadelphia Union – earning a base salary of $450,000 dollars per year with a compensation package valued at $500,000.
Darren Mattocks (DC United) is next with a base salary of $400,000 and total package worth $416,666.66 dollars.
Defender Alvas Powell (Portland Timbers) is the third highest paid Jamaican with earnings of $225,000 which could rise to $241,625.
Completing the top five Jamaicans in MLS are Colorado Rapids striker Giles Barnes who currently takes home $200,000 and Kemar Lawrence of the New York Red Bulls with a base package of $150,000 which could increase to $255,600.
Next in line are Demar Phillips (Real Salt Lake) with a base salary of $120,000 and total compensation package of $126,250.00. Romario Williams of Atlanta United pockets $71,500 while Philadelphia Union forward Cory Burke makes a base $67,500 that could rise to $71,223.75.
Bastien Schweinsteiger (Chicago Fire) is the league’s highest earner with a base salary of $6.1 million dollars with Michael Bradley (Toronto FC) second at $6 million.
Rounding out the top 5 earners in MLS are David Villa ($5.610m), Sebastian Giovinco ($5.6m) and Jozy Altidore ($5m).
Wayne Rooney of DC United is 9th on the list at $2.7m with Zlatan Ibrahimovic of the LA Galaxy at no.28 with earnings of $1.5m.
