The big clash between Usain Bolt and Canadian sprinter Andre de Grasse at this weekend’s IAAF World Championship in London will not materialize.

This after De Grasse pulled out of the men’s 100 metres event yesterday.

On his final run of the day in training on Monday, de Grasse pulled up with what he described as “a grab” in his right hamstring. Andre received an ultrasound scan which was diagnosed as a grade one hamstring strain.

However, after visiting Bolt’s Doctor Hans Muller Wolfhart in Germany De Grasse was diagnosed a grade two hamstring strain, which rules the Canadian out of action for the rest of 2017.

“The entire year this 100meters race in London was my focus. I am really in the best shape of my life and was looking forward to competing against the best in the world. To not have this opportunity is unimaginable to me but it is the reality I am now faced with. I am sad to miss this chance but I am young and with treatment and rehabilitation I will be back and better than ever in the near future.” said de Grasse.
