Andy Murray crashes out of Madrid Tennis Open

World number one Andy Murray crashed out in two sets in the third round of the Madrid Open today to 20-year-old Borna Coric.

Murray went down 6-3, 6-3.

Murray also lost at the last 16 stage in the Monte Carlo masters, his first tournament after recovering from an elbow injury, and was beaten by Dominic Thiem in the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open.

World no. 2 Novak Djokovic also reached the quarter-finals of the Madrid open with a straight set victory (6-4 7-5) over Feliciano Lopez.

Djokovic joins David Goffin in the quarter-finals after the Belgian beat milos Raonic 6-4 6-2, along with Kei Nishikori, who saw off David Ferrer of Spain 6-4, 6-3.

German alexander Zverev also reached the last eight by beating Czech Tomas Berdych.
