Ann Marie Vaz took her seat as a member of parliament this afternoon (Apl 16).

Mrs. Vaz represents the constituency of eastern Portland after claiming victory in the April 4 by-election where she defeated the People’s National Party’s Damian Crawford.

As Mrs. Vaz embraced her husband and members of the governing party, Speaker of the House of Representatives Pearnel Charles had to rein in the emotions of those in the gallery.
