Asafa Powell pulls out of the Jamaica International Invitational Meet

Tomorrow’s big staging of the Jamaica International Invitational Athletics meet at the National Stadium has been hit by the withdrawal of another star athlete.

This as former 100 metres world record holder and Olympic relay gold medalist holder Asafa Powell has pull out of the meet because of injury.

Powell said he was forced to withdraw from the meet because of achilles tendonitis, injury he sustained at the IAAF Doha Diamond League meeting two weeks ago, which has healed sufficiently.

Powell’s withdrawal follows that of 100 metres hurdles world record holder Kendra Harrison of the United States.

Also down to compete in the IAAF World Challenge meet are : 2016 Olympics double gold medalist Elaine Thompson, along with Kristi Castlin, Francena McCorory, Kemar Bailey-Cole, Shericka Jackson and Danielle Williams.

Also on the list of competitors are Lashawn Merritt, Andre Degrasse, Allyson Felix, Jasmin Stowers and Jenna Prandini.
