At least 6 persons killed in the past few days

At least 6 persons were killed across the island in the past few days.

The incidents include 2 double murders in Kingston and St. Andrew, and a murder Hanover.

The deceased are 50-year-old Carlton Armstrong of Bond Street, Kingston 14, 21-year-old Orlando Turner of Freeman Hall’s in Albert Town, Trelawny, 56-year-old Orrette Downer otherwise called ‘short man’ or ‘half pint’ of Bulls Bay Hanover, 33-year-old Raymond Brown, otherwise called ‘puss man’ of Windsor Heights, Spanish Town, St. Catherine , 30-year-old Leon Morgan, otherwise called ‘Lee’, of Verine Avenue, Kingston 10 and an unidentified man.

The latest incident occurred at about 12:30 this morning (February 5).

Armstrong and Turner were shot dead in the Coronation Market in Downtown, Kingston.

Reports from the police are that Armstrong and Turner were inside the market when several men approached and opened gunfire, hitting them multiple times.

They were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Meantime, Downer was shot and killed in Bulls Bay Hanover, yesterday (February 4).

Reports from the Lucea Police are that about 7:40 a.m., Downer was at home when he was called outside by a man.

Both of the men then went to the back of the house where they reportedly conversed.

Shortly after, several explosions were heard.

The police were summoned and upon arrival, officers found Downer with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to his upper body.

He was later pronounced dead at hospital.

Meanwhile, the body of an unidentified man was found along Ferguson Drive, Kingston 11, at about 11:20 pm, on Thursday (February 3).

Reports are that residents summoned the police and on their arrival the man was found in a pool of blood.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The deceased is of dark complexion, slim build and about 170 centimetres or 5 feet 7 inches long.

He was clad in a grey-and-white merino, a pair of jeans pants and a pair of blue sneakers.

And, the Hunts Bay Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murders of Brown and Morgan, who were shot along China Sea Pathway, Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11, on Thursday.

Reports are that about 9:35 p.m., Residents summoned the police to the area after hearing several explosions.

Brown was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It was later discovered that Morgan, who had been taken to hospital by residents, also succumbed to his wounds.

These killings push Jamaica’s murder tally since the start of the year, past 140.
