Bank of Jamaica projects that inflation in Jamaica will fall in the second half of the year

by May 25th, 2022

Despite expressing concern about the level of inflation in the country, Governor of the Bank of Jamaica, Richard Byles is projecting that inflation will fall in the second half of the year.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday (May 24), Governor Byles noted the rising cost of goods and services in the country.

He noted that the inflation fuelled by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the continuing COVID-19 crisis is higher than the bank had projected.

Governor Byles said there could be some respite in sight, however, provided that the geopolitical tensions do not escalate further.
