Dance hall artiste Beenie Man, whose given name is Moses Davis, has been charged in relation to hosting a party in contravention of the covid protocols.

This after the St. Elizabeth police issued a summons for him, following reports of a party that was held in the parish on November 29.

Head of the JCF Communications Unit Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay said Mr. Davis reported to the police last evening, when the summons was formally served.

Beenie Man has since been charged with breaches of the Disaster Risk Management Act, and breaches of the Noise Abatement Act.

He was granted station bail.

The artiste is scheduled to appear before the St. Elizabeth parish court on February 10.

And, the police high command is reminding citizens of the restrictions under the Disaster Risk Management Act, to include, that no event or amusement permit, has been granted, and as such, all illegal parties will be shut down, and the promoters prosecuted.

Additionally, under the Towns and Communities Act, activating, discharging or throwing any squibs, firecrackers or any other fireworks in any public place is prohibited and persons found committing any such offence are liable for prosecution.

The island wide curfew remains in effect and will be strictly enforced over the remaining holiday period and, into the New Year.

This reminder has been echoed by the Office of the Prime Minister.

Today, New Year’s Day, the curfew will begin at 7 o’clock this evening, and end at 5 o’clock tomorrow morning.

Subsequently, the curfew time reverts to nightly, from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am, up to January 15.

The police will be enforcing the curfew order, in addition to all other provisions, and all persons are encouraged to obey the rules as we work to keep each other safe.
